I love birthday celebrations and our family celebrates FIVE birthdays in fall! We party for three months. Then it's Thanksgiving and on to Christmas 🎄 In the last correspondence I mentioned Grandpa Mel and I will also have our 40th Anniversary next week so now is a good time to mention 🚗there will be no delivery on Tuesday, October 14th🚗. Once we've blown out the last of the birthday candles for October, we're planning a sentimental journey. Rest assured, things will get back to normal (and will really pick up) starting with the October 21st delivery. Order window will open 10/13 and close 10/19 for the 10/21 delivery date.
And NOW is a good time to remind everyone 🍁 Seamark Ranch Fall Festival 🍁 is October 25th and we'll be there with all your old favorites and some new items as well! We are so looking forward to a day filled with all things 🍁Fall🍁. Seamark Ranch is such a beautiful setting and the ministry is just amazing. If you've never experienced the ranch and their mission, October 25th is a good time to explore. Check out their website for the event details. If you're a golfer, there's even an upcoming event just for you!
As November approaches, we'll be adding some seasonal favorites to our SHOP and would love to hear from you about your favorite holiday treats. Cinnamon rolls with maple icing are a favorite and they are already on the menu. We'll be adding classic Gingerbread People in mid-November and we're practicing a special Brownie recipe too. Our breads are still the favorite, and we've added Cinnamon Raisin recently. If you haven't explored the SHOP in the last couple weeks, check out the seasonal choices.
Options to purchase sourdough seem to be popping up everywhere (especially on social media platforms). It's so encouraging that families are trying to eat real food with really good ingredients. Cottage food industry laws in Florida are the best in the nation, making small business available to just about anyone who has a craft. The key to good sourdough baking is keeping it real (no preservatives ever) and we believe organic is best for all ingredients where possible/available.
Cottage food law requires labeling with every ingredient, any potential allergens listed separately, the name of the owner and address of the home kitchen (and it must be a home), as well as a specific disclaimer regarding what cottage food industry means. The weight in grams and ounces must be on the label too. Grandma Gail's Dough House is a LLC and we also maintain insurance sufficient for our craft. We offer a complete money back guarantee if you are unsatisfied for any reason. Our web platform allows us to refund back to the original payment method either full or partial. Of course we hope you are always satisfied but we recognize that we don't get to cut open the bread and we want you to love it.
Cleanliness is imperative, and you should feel confident with the food safety practices of any cottage food provider. Although we typically deliver, some customers opt to come to the farm to pick up later in the day on Tuesdays. We offer pickup for convenience, and it gives customers an opportunity to see our kitchen. Bake day starts with a full clean of every surface used. Because chemicals don't belong around food, we use vinegar and water for the counters and baking soda for the sinks. Following are a few photos of the kitchen for those who can't make it to the farm.
The purpose of an Apron is to protect against contaminants
When you choose to purchase from a cottage food business, be sure they are following the guidelines for that industry and be confident in their practices. When it comes to what you feed your family, you should know.
Now, I'm going to eat some birthday cake! Y'all have a great rest of your week and enjoy this amazing fall weather! 🍁🍂🍁
