About Grandma Gail
Gail is known for her warm and welcoming demeanor. You can often find her in a favorite apron always adorned with streaks of flour and hints of honey from her beloved bees. Gail is nurturing and creative, finding joy in tending to her garden, caring for her bees, and baking sourdough bread. She's patient and persistent; traits that serve her well in both her gardening endeavors and her sourdough baking experiments. Gail is also deeply connected to nature, finding inspiration and solace in the rhythms of the seasons and the cycles of life on her homestead. After retiring from her tech career, Gail found fulfillment in pursuing her passion for baking and gardening on her small homestead. She and her husband Mel transformed their property into a haven for biodiversity, cultivating a lush garden filled with a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, maintaining several colonies of bees, loving on two Aussie dogs and some barn cats. Gail's sourdough bread quickly became a local favorite, known for its tangy flavor and chewy texture, made with a starter she nurtured and cherished like a member of her family. Gail is a skilled baker, with a particular talent for crafting artisanal sourdough bread. She has a deep understanding of the fermentation process and the intricate dance of microbes that give sourdough its unique flavor and texture. Gail endeavors to live in harmony with the land sharing the fruits of her labor with her family and community. She created the online storefront so locals may purchase homemade bread and confections with confidence the ingredients are real, whole and mostly organic. At some point soon, Gail hopes to teach others about the joys of sourdough baking and native plant gardening for pollinators, inspiring them to embrace a more self-sufficient and earth-friendly way of life.
